"Onward, to the Future, and Catastrophe"

 

 

I don't usually entitle my photos. But sometimes I do.

 

(I don't really like this one that much but I moved it up in rank because it's so strong compositionally. It feels contrived to me, and it is. I had found this wonderful shooting blind, a glass-sided walkway above a popular plaza, and late one afternoon on a sunny day I took dozens of pictures of people and their shadows as they walked beneath me. The photo works, but it was a bit like shooting fish in a barrel and doesn't feel as hard won as my favourite street shots.)
