I love the inside of stores. The supermarket is a quintessential part of our culture. Sadly, these spaces will fare poorly in the archaeological record compared to medieval churches or Roman fora.

What else does this photo preserve? Shopping behaviour: some child was probably forced by her mother to leave this toy behind after carrying it throughout the store and trying to sneak it into the shopping cart. My diet: soda water, popcorn, lettuce, almond milk. The time of year: a cardboard rack of flower and vegetable seeds is behind my cart. The popularity of organic apple juice and the price of such in 2012 (although the year isn't strictly attested to in the photo itself).

While writing this, I noticed the moving foot of someone in the background of photo for the first time. I think it's important to the rhythm of the photo: dog, cart, shelf, leg.
