This is one of my favourite photos because it tickles my sense of humour. It is also a hybrid of my two photographic styles/subjects: 1) street photography, people, life in the city; and 2) still life, found objects, especially artifacts (often litter) that observe the city and the activity in it.

The tomato and the grocery bag. Outside the grocery store. Did the tomato escape the bag? Escape the store? Did it narrowly escape being purchased and the horrible fates that follow purchase? The tomato is watching the shopper. Is it planning revenge? Is it a resistance fighter plotting to free its brothers and sisters trapped in the bag?

Forget these anthropomorphisms. How did a delicious, ripe tomato actually come to be nestled at the base of this tree?
