In the final years of high school, Jeff's darkroom experience landed him a series of summer jobs at a regional government office, shooting, developing and printing B&W images of archaeological artifacts in a professionally equipped darkroom.

During university Jeff studied philosophy and art, and then took a certificate in computer technology. For several decades he took few pictures.

Then, after buying his first house, he began photographing flowers in the garden. His favourite trick was to improvise a macro lens by manually holding a reversed 50mm lens against his OM-1 body. In 2002, this ended when he was given his first digital camera, a 2MP Canon PowerShot S110.

In 2009, while working in a 1-hour photo lab, Jeff took a street photography course to challenge himself to take more pictures of people. His favourite subjects of flowers and found objects gave way to livelier shots of life in the city.

Jeff has also worked as a furniture maker, office manager, editor, cycling activist, computer technician and bike courier (his favour-ite job). He currently works as a homemaker.
